The History of Italianette Pizza
Italianette Pizza was founded by John Byington in 1957 as Silverton Pizza, located by the railroad tracks on Montgomery Road. Silverton Pizza was a small restaurant offering "carryout" only. The menu consisted of three sizes of pizza, and two kinds of hoagies - the Steak Hoagie and Dagwood Hoagie.
By 1962 Silverton Pizza had outgrown its original location and relocated to its present location at 6918 Plainfield Road where it also adorned a new name, "ITALIANETTE PIZZA". After 8 successful years, John sold Italianette to Eddy Kilpatrick and his brother, Bill Hoff. Eventually, Bill and his wife, Gayle, bought out Eddy and successfully ran Italianette.
Our story begins in 1981 when Bill hired two neighborhood teenage brothers, Fritz and Jeff Krimmer. They began as dishwashers and pizza box folders. As Bill would say, "I might as well give them something to do. They're always in here bugging me anyway." Bill took the brothers under his wing and taught them everything he knew about the pizza business.
In 1985, at the young age of 19, Fritz and his mother, Shirley, purchased Italianette Pizza from Bill and Gayle Hoff, and put their name on the restaurant. Since that time, with the help of the entire Krimmer family, Italianette began serving the hungry locals. As Italianette Pizza became very popular, the little pizza shop could barely keep up with demand.
What could we do? We answered the hungry demand and purchased the building next door to Italianette. Walls were blown out and the restaurant tripled its kitchen capacity. We also added a dining room that accommodates close to 90 customers.
Our system seems to be working! Our walls are adorned with articles from local publications over the years for the quality and uniqueness of our pizza. The year 2020 marks Krimmer Italianette Pizza's 35th Anniversary and achieving this goal is a milestone and our pleasure.
In these trying economic times, we take great pride in providing the best possible value to our customers who desire great tasting pizza with the satisfaction of receiving a great value.
We are committed to our customers, as they are our neighbors. We are not worried about being on "the cutting edge"... We do what we do, and they always come back for more!
From the entire Krimmer family we would like to thank you for your continued support throughout our years serving the Cincinnati area.
